A comprehensive project work plan finalized by RESILIENCE project team

RESILIENCE project partners have jointly agreed and prepared a comprehensive project work plan that will be the basis for the implementation of project activities during the next 4 years in Assam and Odisha. More than 25 scientists from various disciplines and stakeholders will actively work together to implement the plan. The Plan not only emphasizes on identifying and improving barriers for value chain improvement on the production side, but also on the post production issues including marketing and extension.  Integrating gender in adaptation, capacity building and dissemination for wider knowledge exchange will be an important cross cutting issue in the project.

“Diverse and integrated approaches in agriculture development will enable to address the challenges of climate change and extreme weather” according to the Project Coordinator, Udaya Sekhar Nagothu.

The project will demonstrate the impact of diverse crop systems, climate resilient rice and other crop varieties, integrating precise crop-nutrient and water management measures, and pest and disease monitoring and control with the support of digital applications. The use of ICT tools/ mobile phones will enable wider knowledge exchange and improve connectivity with smallholders in the project areas. On the post production side, the work plan emphasizes on improving market access and storage technologies that will help farmers to get better prices for their produce.

Frameworks and policy inputs for scaling up the successfully tested climate smart technologies will be prepared jointly with stakeholders in the region, including the Department of Agriculture, Extension and other relevant agencies.
